What's your Corporate DNA

I suppose all of you have heard of at least a couple of these great leaders: Jack Welch, Winston Churchill, Vince Lombardi, Abe Lincoln, and Alfred P. Sloan, Jr. Do you know what they all have in common (besides being some of my favorite people to read about)? Their management styles were vastly different, although each person’s style worked during his time and in his individual situation.

Where they all excelled however, was in their ability to understand the people they served and the people who served them. Often, the decisions they made on behalf of those people weren’t necessarily the popular or obvious choices. But each of them had a finely tuned “gut check” about people in general and about a person’s character and potential capabilities that turned out to be pretty darned good.

I graduated from Baldwin Boys High School, Bangalore in May 1996. I entered Baldwin Methodist College to continue my education for the next two years. During the summer between these two years, I joined work. I engaged myself in my family business. I would help my father in managing a packaging industry. Business became my first priority consequently, education was secondary to finding a professional career but I knew I would need to complete my bachelors’ degree program at a later time.

From 1998 to 2002, I went through a lot of evolution. During my tenure as the Chief Operating Officer at Industrial Packers and General Enterprises I learnt about management in various fields like production and manpower as well as realized my role and responsibility. Though my knowledge was only based on experiences and not education. The knowledge I’ve gained about our firm is also improving my management capabilities. I understand better why associates behave the way they do, how to make their teams more productive and how they respond to job related stress. I know which incentives, rewards, and conditions are most compatible with individual motivational styles. And this new knowledge helps me coach associates to improve in certain areas if they aspire to be top performers in their divisions.

In the subsequent months, my company (IPGE) came to be recognized as a reputed industrial packaging solutions provider that provides best in class total packaging solutions with its extensive domain expertise and technology specializations to a pool of premiere multinational global clientele.

In 2003, I completed my II PU(PCMC) and joined Dr. Ambedhkar Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore to complete my Bachelors in Business Management program. I completed my BBM during the year 2006. Later I joined the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM B) with the intention of pursuing a master’s degree in management. These are the highlights of my career experience and academic related knowledge.
